I’VE GONE back and forth between English countryside style and minimalist neutrals lately, and after a quick fling with the former again, I’m firmly back to the latter, having discovered this ultra-chic home, known as Herenhuis in ‘t Gooi (Mansion in the Gooi) on Instagram. If you’re not familiar with neighbourhoods in the Netherlands, the Gooi is an area around Hilversum, in the centre of the country. It is a slightly hilly area characterised by green landscapes, historical charm, villas, and is also known as home to the rich and famous.

THE LAST TIME we featured the 1928 Hollywood Hills, California home of interior designer Mark D. Sikes was in 2016 (see how it looked here). It was the second iteration of the place, we believe? Three years ago, in 2019, the designer embarked on a third redesign that was featured at Architectural Digest that we only discovered now, and quite a lot has changed. New fabrics have been brought in, most notably the blue white Brunschwig & Fils check that ensconces the dining room from floor to ceiling. ...
STYLIST AND CREATIVE Director Pernille Teisbaek's Copenhagen home blends together all of the beautiful elements that we love most: marble upon marble and chevron wood floors; boiserie and architectural features such as pillars and ceiling beams. There's a soft sunlit glow about the space due to filmy sheer curtains that puddle on the floor ...

FEW THINGS can conjure up the holiday spirit more than a perfectly decorated home and Ven House, the early-Georgian mansion built for a wealthy lawyer (who went bankrupt in the process) in the countryside near the Somerset village of Milborne Port, is exactly that.
BY PURE COINCIDENCE, I recently watched both It's Complicated, the 2009 film with Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin; and Father of the Bride, the 1991 film with Steve Martin and Diane Keaton. Now everyone knows that when you watch Nancy Meyers films, the interiors nearly steal every scene (remember the charming cottage in The Holiday?), so when I came across the writer-director-producer's redecorated Los Angeles home, of course I had to have a peek, especially since she worked with LA-based interior designer Mark D. Sikes, whose work has been featured here many times.
OUR FIRST SHOPPING ROUND-UP with the new cushion covers in The Shop was so popular we thought we might create another, this time, paired with a nautical striped sofa and bits of pink and dusky lavender . . .
