Early in 2004, a buoy was released into the waters off Argentina. Half of the buoy was dark and the other light, like a planet in relief. The buoy sailed east, accompanied by the vastness of the ocean and all the life it contains, the long-lived great humpback whales with their complex songs that carry for kilometers, and the short-lived Argentine shortfin squid. Along the way, many thousands of minuscule creatures were colonizing this new surface, which had appeared like a life raft in the open waters of the South Atlantic.
WE SPENT THE past few days back in London, visiting old haunts and discovering new places, eating so much good food and walking and bicycling to new neighbourhoods all covered in wisteria and cherry blossoms; entering gilded and ornate wrought iron gates to parks filled with swans and happy ducks, sipping drinks on terraces and having dim sum for Saturday brunch ...
ON MONDAY WE went into the city for the first time in a long time, stopped for oat milk flat whites at our favourite coffee shop (so nice!), browsed flower stands and shopped for champagne truffles. We had take-away sushi for lunch and ended up on a sun-drenched terrace overlooking the river where we sipped drinks in the spring air ...
JANUARY IS A funny time: on the one hand, we're drawn to all-white and minimalistic interiors for the clean slate that they represent, and on the other, it's such a dreary month that anything colourful instantly lifts our mood and brightens these long dark winter days.

The Notting Hill home of creative consultant and designer Matilda Goad, at first glance, falls neatly into the English countryside aesthetic we’ve all fallen for lately. Upon closer examination, however, the space definitely has its own modern spin ...
WE MISSED LAST week's links completely, for the first time in a very long time, if ever. The site was down for a couple of days due to technical difficulties, and the rest of the time we were having difficulty focusing on work or anything really, while the world was out en force, protesting the gruesome murder of George Floyd two weeks ago. It's difficult to put inspiration out into the world when you're feeling sad and overwhelmed ...
BEING ONE WHO tends to overdue things, I thought that to make the best of this lockdown, I could use this time to begin writing a book, or learn another language, but these ambitious goals might be easier to reach if one weren’t in a constant state of anxiety due to the current state of the world.
DANIELA HAD ASKED how our weekend was, and I replied that it was actually not too bad considering the state of the world. We had really nice weather on Saturday and spent some time along the river, and at nights when it’s cooler, we always have a cosy fire in the living room.
NO.4 CLIFFORD STREET - Here sits an elegant Georgian building, one of the oldest in the neighbourhood of Mayfair, London, a house dating from 1719 and originally conceived by the architect John Witt, and now the current home of Connolly, a clothing and leather goods boutique that made its debut in 1995, but closed temporarily in 2010 for a 5 year pause ...
According to a press release, Herring and Segal first worked together on 2015’s So The Flies Don’t Come, the second studio album from milo. Segal produced that album in full; Herring guested on the second song, “Souvenir.” The two met soon after when milo’s tour came through Baltimore, and they started working together soon after.
We were in London a couple of weeks ago, as you know, to meet a friend and business associate from Spain. He was there, we would find out later, for the funeral of an old friend.
