In 2015, I contacted Ai Weiwei, then under house arrest in Beijing, to ask if I could exhibit his work on a remote island in the Salish Sea. To my amazement, he agreed.
WE HAVE LONG been fans of white, for summertime, for wintertime, and of course, for autumn. This season, however, it seems as if everyone else has fallen for it as well, for on the streets of New York, London and Paris, there flashes of eggshell and ecru, glimpses of ivory and cream, flutters of pearl and beige.
These autumn days are flowing softly with the most cosy weather: crisp mornings, warm afternoons and chilly evenings. And it's no wonder: the city, which has been one of Europe's major centres of finance, commerce, fashion, science, music and art since the 17th century, has continued to capture the imaginations of travellers around the world despite travel trends.
James Blake’s solo career seems to be at a crossroads. His last album The Colour in Anything was a deep dive into the maximalist breakup music he had been focusing on since Overgrown, but his most recent single, “If the Car Beside You Moves Ahead,” was a return to some of the more colorful, club-focused music of his past.
