Tourist says of the new single, “'Last' to me, is a reflection on grief. I started this track with James a few years ago, and while writing it we noticed that we were hearing the lyric differently, I was hearing “you know you’re lost” whereas James was hearing “you know you last”. The duality of that truth resonated with me, as both meanings are applicable when someone leaves us. It has struck a more personal chord recently, as recently one of my dearest friends passed away very suddenly.”
THERE ARE late summer whites and early autumn whites, but perhaps our most favourite are the Winter Whites. Here is a beautifully curated moodboard of a few things we love this holiday season—coats and cable knits and cosy cardigans; table settings and turtlenecks and tufted headboards; boiserie and leather totes and so much more...
According to a press release, Herring and Segal first worked together on 2015’s So The Flies Don’t Come, the second studio album from milo. Segal produced that album in full; Herring guested on the second song, “Souvenir.” The two met soon after when milo’s tour came through Baltimore, and they started working together soon after.
Following the release of her March debut record ‘Miss Universe’, West London’s Nilüfer Yanya has shared a brand new reworking of album cut ‘Heat Rises’. With a different structure, additional production, an entirely new mix, and some numbers in the title because why tf not, ‘H34T RISES’ is the fantastic result.
Next to trench coats and cosy knits, leopard print and silk, our favourite trend of Autumn 2019 is the return of checks and plaids. Always classic in our view, checks and plaids in tweeds and bouclé are the perfect way to layer on cool autumn days, whether in a blazer, trench or coat. Here are a few of our favourite ways to wear the trend along with a few shopping links...
CAME ACROSS an old (2018) article about how Instagram has killed the art of lifestyle blogging and was surprised to read that Instagrammers are now referring to themselves as bloggers. Bloggers, of course, in the original sense of the word, were those of us with actual blogs (web + log) or websites and also happened to have an Instagram account alongside.
It's the first of October and there's nothing left to do but to finally (and wistfully) let go of summer and welcome autumn's moody skies and blustery, windblown mornings. What better way to do it than to plan cosy autumn soirée's? When we came across Maximilian Sinsteden's table setting for dinner at home with friends on Instagram, we knew it was the perfect inspiration for this time of year...
“Cool To You” is the third release of this year from Taylor Van Ginkel’s solo project, Teenage Priest. Written and produced by the Los Angeles artist, he expresses the struggle of wanting to be perceived as cool, despite straying from his internal desires.
THIS WEEKEND WE celebrated something special and also tried to absorb as much of the last golden days of summer as possible. For this first September week, we're back and forth to Edinburgh for business and to sort a few things out. We've also finally installed some bookcases to the left of the fireplace in the living room and have begun moving the boxes (and boxes) of books and magazines from the storage unit to the cottage. The floor is currently strewn with paperbacks, oversized coffee table books and glossy back issues of favourite magazines in a pile of nostalgia and happy chaos. Everything that we've been working for in the past few months has lead to tomorrow and we're relieved, excited and exhausted all at once...
Here’s some music trivia to end your week to. How many tracks could you name that were released in the 50s that have been reinvented in every decade since, by internationally-known artists from across the musical spectrum and to massive popular and critical acclaim?
The piano classes on the third floor of my building have started again, the terraces on my street are open again and the streets are filled again with everybody going back at work. And while I love Paris with its endless beauty and inspiration, this summer, I fell in love even more with the South of France, which showed me again that a peaceful and relaxed lifestyle changes the quality of life...
Binki’s new eclectic indie-rap single “Wiggle” makes its much anticipated premiere today. His knack for smooth basslines wrapped (pun intended) in authentic lyrics made for much buzz in the underground community and “Wiggle”, the appropriately named release, delivered. Following this single, binki plans to drop a new song every month until the end of the year.
In 2018, the advertising geniuses at Snake Accident commissioned TV On The Radio to record their own version of the 1970s Carpenters hit “We’ve Only Just Begun” for a commercial for the asset management company Nuveen.
Little have I thought about styling and fashion these past few weeks, as my mind is wandering to sunny places, near the sea always, in the mood for watching sunsets, looking at the works of Picasso, Matisse, Duchamp and Miró.
