Admont Abbey is a Benedictine monastery on the Enns River in the town of Admont, Austria. The name Admont comes from the Latin expression ad montes, meaning "at the mountains", fitting, as the monastery sits on the borders of the scenic and mountainous Gesäuse National Park.
One of the things that I love about L.A. is the contrast of experiences you can have in a single day: everything from taking in the waves at the beach, driving down the rugged coastline to hiking through succulent-lined trails. And of course there is the shopping, the dining, and the culture of Hollywood history at the city’s core.
From time to time, I enjoy a wander in a neighborhood far from my own. On a recent winter morning I visited Brooklyn Heights, a charming corner in Brooklyn known for its beautiful architecture and serene charm. This neighborhood isn’t a shopping or dining destination, but it is a feast for the eyes and a place where you can leave with an appreciation of the city.
In the Kenyan highlands a few miles north of the equator, lies Arijiju, a safari lodge. Located in Laikipia county, it also sits on the Borana Conservancy, a working cattle ranch and wildlife sanctuary. There are zebras and giraffes, gazelles, eland and hartebeest, lions and elephants, and most impressively, it is the home to twenty-two black rhinos, translocated from Lake Nakuru National Park, having reached its capacity of 70.
Despite being a new beginning of the year, filled with so much hope and so many new ideas, rarely does the month of January bring only joy. January—it’s the month of sales, people are tired of shopping and of queues, of agglomeration, of the grey days. Keeping a good mood may be a challenge.
If what we see shapes who we are, what better reason is there to make an effort to see art? For me, art is a prelude to discovery; it is a symbol of a point in time and history that can help navigate the present and future.
When we first moved to Spain three years ago, one of the only things that we lamented was that around the holiday season, the city just didn't seem very festive. There was the usual carousel and a few smaller decorated trees here and there, but over all, the shops and streets never really got into the holiday spirit like they do in the UK.
Beaverbrook Hotel is a late-nineteenth-century mansion set in the Surrey Hills, the quintessential British Country Estate. Decorator Susie Atkinson was tasked with designing something essentially British and romantic, "current but not trendy, comfortable and completely individual" (House & Garden). It is something she achieved brilliantly with tufted velvet and (Bowood) florals, dusky pink walls, cane chairs and Louise Bourgeois gallery walls...
The last few days I have been watching the beauty of fall from my cosy rustic cabin back in my home town. Being back in Paris now, my mind keeps drifting to the emerald lake we visited and the colourful forests I have seen during the time I’ve spent there. Here there is no crackling fire, but certainly these two places are a perfect choice for a cosy lunch or dinner with some incredible Parisian views between the working days ...
These autumn days are flowing softly with the most cosy weather: crisp mornings, warm afternoons and chilly evenings. So far the days are inviting long walks in the park, listening to the crunches of leaves, « tarte tatin » moments in the afternoon, a glass of wine with friends for dinner after exhibitions.
If you are in Paris these days, you will notice a slightly different vibe in the air. Influencers, editors, models have taken the streets of Paris and are presenting the latest trends in the most creative ways. If you're here for the shows or to people watch, there are a few places in the city to go during these busy Fashion Week days and enjoy breakfast or lunch.
here are countless places to have coffee in New York City. Blue Bottle and La Colombe are reliable chains when you are in midtown. There are the cafés that are aesthetically pleasing on Instagram, but are misses when it comes to coffee. A wave of Australian cafes has emerged on the Upper East: anyone is an ideal choice before a visit to Museum Mile. On nearly every corner is a deli for a basic of cup of joe with a dash cream.
When thinking of the South I always picture sunny landscapes, pink hours by the beach, dîners en plein air on the terrace. Last August I spent only a few days in the south and I didn’t get a chance to visit all the places I wanted to see so much.
Changed the breathtaking landscape from Ireland with the seaside in France, as am currently on a dreamy beach in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, two steps away from the turquoise water, but wanted to share a few more things about Ireland.
