June 6 marked the one year anniversary of when I first began working out three times a week, every week. Quite an achievement, given that my relationship with physical fitness of any kind has always been a difficult one, having always been slight with little or no effort. There is a thought in our circles that you are either in business or you’re fit — said, of course, in jest — but the sub-text is that keeping fit takes an enormous amount of time and energy, and if you are running a successful business, you most likely do not have the time and energy that it takes to sculpt a perfect body. And perhaps there may be some truth to that.
This letter arrives months late, but with good reason, for it has been the most eventful past few months ever, we can assure you! Life-changing in many ways, both personally & professionally, the year 2015 will go down in history as one to remember always.
I first began dabbling in photography about 8 years ago, as a hobby and a way to tap into something creative and artistic. After graduating from some basic bridge cameras, I eventually decided to commit to a Canon DSLR. At the time, an entry-level DSLR with lenses, etc. was still relatively expensive and as photography was just a hobby it wasn't an easily justifiable expense, but in retrospect, it was one of the best purchases that I ever made.
THIS WEEK'S AT THE SHOPS features NYC-based Shawn Warren Jewelry. Was recently introduce to the label and immediately fell for the designer's clean lines and rock 'n refined aesthetic. My lucky Horseshoe Necklace, made of sliced grey diamonds and the prettiest glittery rose gold chain, has quickly become a new favourite and has never left my neck since the day it arrived. The designs, inspired by Shawn's mother, have that perfect mix, whether rough diamonds and rose gold, or sliced diamonds and white gold, that work just as well with organza cocktail dresses as with blue jeans . . .
A FEW MONTHS AGO, in late-November of last year, we visited Lisbon, Portugal for the very first time and utterly fell in love with its pastel buildings, sunny, sunny days, pastel de nata (custard tarts) and laid-back vibe. Here are a few snapshots by iPhone that had been meaning to share. More (proper) photos to come from P’s camera, but for now, here is a glimpse of this beautiful, vibrant city with its terracotta rooftops and palm trees in the city . . .
