WE FIRST featured this Paris apartment in the Place des Vosges three years ago, in September 2015. Decorated by French-American designer Marianne Tiegen, this space was featured in its entirety despite not all the rooms being exactly our taste.
Should one be so unlucky as to find oneself, as I did, lying awake in bed in the early hours of the morning in a hostel in La Paz, Bolivia, listening anxiously to the sound of someone trying to force their way into one’s room, one could do worse than to throw a chair under the doorknob as a first line of defence.
CHEVRON FLOORS in Parisian spaces, marble fireplaces and gilding, chandeliers and tufted chairs — here are a few favourite interiors in shades of linen, wood and chocolate…

THERE IS A SPANISH BOOKSTORE that we love to visit that has all the best magazines. It was here, the other day, that had come across the latest issue of Elle Decoration España with the new home of couturier Jorge Vázquez on the cover. Of course, as an unabashed maximalist, it was love at first site. The Spanish fashion designer worked with his friend and decorator, Amaro Sánchez de Moya, who also designed Vázquez's store in La Coruña.
ON SUNDAY we packed a wicker basket filled with baguettes, cheeses, jamón ibérico, pâté and something fizzy to drink and went to the gardens to lounge away a beautiful day in the sun. We found a perfect spot nestled amongst trees grouped in circular pattens, forming small open spaces in their midst that beckoned the laying down of a blanket and the kicking off of one's shoes to feel soft grass on bare feet. Since most of our picnics occur at the seaside, this one was a lovely change, the rustling of the leaves and the sound of cicadas intermingling in the late-afternoon air heavy with the scent of blossoms and dreams. It was a perfect way to spend a summer's day.
