Designer, writer and creative consultant, Nicolas Fairford, is one of our favourite recent Instagram finds. Not only will you find idyllic English countryside scenes―manicured gardens, climbing roses and spring lambs―but you'll also catch glimpses ...
MORE BEAUTIFUL English countryside inspiration for the weekend, from grand castles to cosy thatched roof cottages, from Dorset to Devon, the Lake District to Cambridgeshire, a story in photos of some of the most beautiful places in Britain...
Recently, had told you about our trip from Spain to the south of France, Scotland and the English countryside in late May, early June. It was during this trip that we fell in love (again) with the countryside and thought it might be time to do something completely different than we've done before.
IT IS UNDENIABLY chilly, and the fire is on at the cottage most days now. The leaves have turned a bright yellow and the shops are a confusing mix of pumpkins and Christmas crackers. How there can be only two and a half months left of the year is a mystery. It feels like a moment ago that I was writing my New Year's Resolutions for 2019 and now we're on the cusp of 2020...
IN LATE MAY we went on holiday to the south of France for a few days, and then to Scotland for nearly a month. It is something she achieved brilliantly with tufted velvet and (Bowood) florals, dusky pink walls, cane chairs and Louise Bourgeois gallery walls...
WE HAPPENED UPON ONE detail in this 16th-century family manor in the Cotswolds on Instagram and immediately had to find out what the rest of the home looked like. That one detail was in the drawing room, where a second walkway was converted into an ultra-chic bar area, with antique mirror was installed above and behind the shelves to reflect light (see below). As it turns out, there's a very interesting story to the place...
WHILE EVERYONE SEEMS to be getting back to their regular lives again after a long and languid summer, we’re about to change up our schedule a bit after spending most of the summer working. We’ve been planning trips and wondering where we might go this Fall, and places like Melrose, Scotland; and Yorkshire keep coming up again and again. Somewhere a little quiet and out of the way, out of the city for a bit — to think and plan and dream, somewhere perhaps, like this thatched cottage-lined place of magic in Dorset.
