A chance encounter while living in Canada led Jay Davey to working with willow in Somerset. Currently based near Taunton and the Somerset Levels where willow has been grown for generations, the designer uses local Somerset willow as well as hazel coppiced in the Southwest of England to create his work, most of which is woven on site. Davey’s beautiful projects, which can only be described as works of art, range from willow hurdles and screens, to seats and arbours, climbers, structures and more sculptural art-based pieces. The designer specialises in weaving on site, which enables him to tailor the work to client and site requirements. Davey’s work can be seen at contemporary homes, rooftop terraces, country cottages, estates, commercial projects and show gardens.
