MARSEILLE-BORN Julie Pailhas got her start at Elle France, where she became a regular collaborator. She then joined Condé Nast Publications for the launch of Glamour France, where she would be Senior Fashion Editor for 8 years.
CLEARLY still in our concrete design phase here at TIG, for everything we happen across made of this seemingly lowly material catches our eye. This week, it’s the Möbius House, a residential building located in Het Gooi, Netherlands.
THERE IS A LINE from a Bruce Springsteen song that goes: “I wanna change my clothes, my hair, my face“⏤and while I don’t want to change my face, I do like to change my clothes (often), and my hair (sometimes⏤in fact, just last week). A friend once asked me if I changed my décor tastes to match where I happen to be living at the time (she was visiting us in Spain), and I realise that yes, yes I guess I do.
WE HAVE been out of town for the past three days, and there's something about taking time away from work that's refreshing. When we returned home yesterday evening, I was ready to get to work, fresh from a break from routine. The time away also made me think about my home office set-up⏤things that are working and things that could be improved, and so I searched around for some inspiration.
What gives you a sense of awe? That word, awe—the feeling of being in the presence of something vast that transcends your understanding of the world—is often associated with the extraordinary. You might imagine standing next to a 350-foot-tall tree or on a wide-open plain with a storm approaching, or hearing an electric guitar fill the space of an arena, or holding the tiny finger of a newborn baby.
LATELY we have been coming across concrete used in décor everywhere⏤so much so that it has become a common fixture on Instagram. A major trend in interior design in 2018, concrete, a material that is often associated with building foundations, driveways and patios, has been making its way into home accessories, flooring, shelving, lighting and even furniture. And now it's back.
Happened across the Instagram page of an old friend by accident this weekend and discovered that she was renovating a house in San Miguel de Allende. Of course, the internet decided then that I wanted to know about all things Mexico-related and I came across this place, Casa Aviv, in Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico ...
YES, IT’S TRUE—we rarely feature ultra-modern spaces here at TIG (especially brutalist ones), but there is something about this home in Orinda, California, that drew us in. Built by Faulkner Architects for a couple of environmental scientists and their two sons who relocated from the Oakland Hills to the warmer climate of Orinda, the goal was sustainability, including net-zero energy performance yearly.
These two weeks at work, I’ve been paying attention to what people are shopping for, for Christmas, and there is a certain common that is running through everyone's purchases: cosiness ...
As you know, we're unabashed maximalists here at TIG, but every once in a while, we fall in love with a modern space. The reason why we were drawn to this particular space, though, is the stunning way it blends both traditional and contemporary, old and new: this country home in the Cotswolds belonging to Richard Found and his wife is the best of both worlds ...
Today was one of those quintessentially gloomy English autumn days that remind you that winter is on its way. Being forever in love with summertime, it can be difficult with the cold and dark, and so, to look on the bright side, we're drawing inspiration from the palette of overcast days.
IT'S BEEN A WHILE since we opened our inspiration folder to see what beautiful things would fall out and this week, it's a the most stunning interior inspiration that we've been collecting for the past few weeks ...
WE HAPPENED UPON new photos of artist and interior designer William Rankin McLure IV‘s Birmingham, Alabama loft on Instagram...
THIS PAST WEEKEND, we picked up a wicker shelf for the master bath and it had me thinking of powder...
