According to recent studies, the number of people complaining of insomnia skyrocketed during the pandemic, rising from 20 percent of adults last summer to nearly 60 percent in March. If you’re one of those people who’s been plagued by poor sleep, the Well desk is here to help. Recently, we asked our readers to tell us two things: What’s keeping you from getting a good night’s rest? And what are the most pressing questions you would ask a sleep expert?
FELL DOWN a beautiful internet rabbit whole on my way to this place, the French country home of Cordelia de Castellane, the artistic director of Dior Maison and Baby Dior. Located an hour north of Paris, the five-acre estate dates back to the 15th century. de Castellane and her husband used to rent a small cottage on these grounds from the family friends who owned the property, long before it became their very own.
WE SPENT THE past few days back in London, visiting old haunts and discovering new places, eating so much good food and walking and bicycling to new neighbourhoods all covered in wisteria and cherry blossoms; entering gilded and ornate wrought iron gates to parks filled with swans and happy ducks, sipping drinks on terraces and having dim sum for Saturday brunch ...
RANDOMLY CAME across a Pinterest board last week entitled "Beautiful Women". The man whose board it was had been diligently collecting busty blondes and me. It was a mildly amusing, slightly strange discovery to say the least. It's the early May bank holiday weekend here, and while we're being more lounge-y than normal for a Monday, we're back at work for at least part of the day ...
Walking around the glamorous and chic corners of Bon Marché, I came across two mannequins styled with knitted sweater vests, while salesperson was dressing, at the exact moment that I was passing by, another mannequin with a cream knitted vest over a striped shirt.
AT THE END of last week we went to Scotland to visit P’s grandmother for the first time in months due to the lockdown. It was wonderful to see her again, as well as neighbours who popped in, but we all continued to keep two meters apart and wore masks to every shop we visited ...
SO LONG AS WE'RE all online and social distancing, we thought it might be interesting to get a glimpse of the homes of those of us who work online, the difference spaces that your favourite influencers are self-isolating in. First up is the New York home of Shea Marie (@sheamarie), blogger, stylist, and social media influencer known for her Peace Love Shea fashion and lifestyle blog ...
Have been observing from afar, the invitées attending the Dior fashion show here in Paris the other day, and noticed a new mini trend that has had a special place in street style a for a few months now, but it's a trend that is here to stay for a while: the cardigan ...
Mornings are crisp and grey, often there is rain and lights on in the windows, and with my current sleep routine (early sleeping and early rising) I am often spending mornings sipping coffee and going through some books...
This is a time of fashion houses reissuing their iconic pieces, and with Fendi's reissuing of its Baguette on the SS19 runways and Karl Lagerfeld's recent passing away, the Italian fashion house is very much on everyone's minds. The late designer did, after all, work for the brand for 54 years. So for this edition of Style Inspiration, we'll look at the many iterations of Fendi's iconic FℲ branded pieces, from mock turtlenecks and knits to capes, tights, and trenches, and of course, the Baguette.
PARIS - Karl Lagerfeld passed away on the morning of Tuesday, February 19, 2019. He was 85. The extraordinary life of the designer, photographer and creative director is widely known. Here are a few highlights in this compilation of photos, moments, and quotations in memoriam of the late great design icon.
January always feels like the longest month of the year. It feels like ages ago we celebrated new resolutions and new beginnings and already I may have failed to keep up with the days without sugar, or with ‘Dynamo’ the Parisian version of Soul Cycle. Most days were rainy and we saw the sun for just a couple of days, but we had a few spectacular sunsets and even a day and a half of snow. Coming to the end of this endless month, here are some wonderful things that happened...
May this year be a softer journey. May we survive through art, friends and all the beautiful things around us. I hope to take more care of myself this year, to have more healthy habits, to take care of my skin, to sleep the necessary hours, to take care of my thoughts and my feelings.
While we’re getting ready for a festive month, in some cities the first snowfall has already been celebrated, and morning coffee is being taken more and more often under the covers, even though I just discovered a pretty café in my neighbourhood.
