THE LAST time we featured any wedding content here was three years ago. It’s something that lifestyle sites used to do quite regularly, but for some reason, seem have to dropped from their regular stories. Perhaps it’s because no one could get married during the pandemic years, or perhaps no is getting married anymore, or perhaps reading about other people’s weddings has become uninteresting if you’re not planning your own. There have countless wedding and engagement photoshoots featured here and if we’re being honest, there’s a sameness to this type of photography. Enter 21 year-old self-proclaimed visual storyteller Esther Canon (@estherscanon) from O‘ahu, Hawai’i, whose photos will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. They are dark and grainy and cinematic, but most of all, they are incredibly romantic. Photos that feel like a still from an old film is how she describes them. Esther’s inspiration comes from a variety of sources, including cinematic films, traveling, Paris and Italy, poetry, movement, love songs, film photography, art, and natural light. Capturing moments full of emotion and life is her aim and she not only accomplishes this goal, but has a way of bringing love stories to life.
