It’s a brand new year, and we’re excited to introduce a brand New Series: 5 Words to Learn this Month, where each month we find five beautiful words from any language, that you may or may not have heard before and present them with their sometimes poignant, sometimes insightful or even melancholic, sometimes even newly created (as in this first intalment), but always beautiful meanings. JANUARY IS OFTEN thought to be a bleak month, despite its positioning as the first in a brand new year. In fact, the first working Monday in January is referred to as ‘Divorce Monday’ in Britain, for the influx of divorce inquiries lawyers receive on that day. IF THERE EVER were a place made of Instagram dreams, this is the place. While We Were Young Kitchen & Cocktails on West 10th Street, NYC's pink tufted velvet banquettes and marble tables and countertops, not to mention their menu of 'Healthy Contemporary American Cuisine' is like a siren song for tourists and locals alike. Mains include dishes such as Avocado Toast ($18), Wild Salmon ($28), Chicken & Waffles ($25), Main Lobster ($31), and adventurous cocktails such as The Morning After (Jasmine-Infused Bourbon, Aperol, Cinnamon, Lemon), and Too Good For You (Tequila, Kale, Lime, Agave, Cucumber) are on offer. Set off against the pink velvet is a dusky blue bar with blue and gold stools for sitting at the counter. Quotes by Walt Witman adorn the walls. Scroll through for a glimpse...
