BY PURE COINCIDENCE, I recently watched both It's Complicated, the 2009 film with Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin; and Father of the Bride, the 1991 film with Steve Martin and Diane Keaton. Now everyone knows that when you watch Nancy Meyers films, the interiors nearly steal every scene (remember the charming cottage in The Holiday?), so when I came across the writer-director-producer's redecorated Los Angeles home, of course I had to have a peek, especially since she worked with LA-based interior designer Mark D. Sikes, whose work has been featured here many times.

IT WAS ONE OF THOSE sipping cava in the sun kind of weekends, hazy and warm and filled with the quiet languidness and melancholy that comes with the knowledge that these days must be savoured before they fade away. I love summertime so much that I am already sad about the thought of it ending before it even begins.
I HAD BEEN MEANING to paint the living for a while now⏤something warm and pinkish by Farrow & Ball⏤Pink Ground or Peignor or Setting Plaster. That is, until I came across Edward Bulmer Natural Paint on Instagram and discovered that it was eco-friendly. All of their colours are created from just 12 earth and mineral pigments using gentle, plant-based chemistry with absolutely no pollutants or harmful toxins. NOW THAT WE'RE updating the TIG Instagram a lot less, we thought we'd begin posting our favourite snapshots here, like we used to. OUR COUNTRYSIDE village has these charming events and one of them, which happens every year, is a Midsummer's Evening and this year, it was held last Thursday, one day after the Summer Solstice. There were food trucks and folk dancers and face-painting. All the shops were opened late and there was live music (a cover band act).
REMEMBER, HE WORKS FOR YOU, he's not doing you a favour―he's offering a service. It's the night before my first hair appointment since lockdown began in March, and P is coaching me to speak up for myself at the salon tomorrow so that I get what I want. There is a reason why he feels the need to do this, as I have a long history of disastrous hair appointments ...
THIS EXTRA LONG Bank Holiday weekend felt more like five days instead of four, as we stopped working on Wednesday and took the next few days off. There were sunny afternoons and a surprise visit from someone far away; faded vermilion-coloured roses in pink glass vases and lingering drinks on pub garden terraces; freshly baked crusty loaves of sourdough bread for breakfast and really good coffee ...
WE'RE TRYING out one of those food services that deliver a huge box of fresh ingredients to your home⏤enough to make five different meals from scratch, all packaged in separate numbered paper bags with recipe cards for each. It arrived on Saturday and the first meal we (actually just P) made was Cauliflower Mac and Cheese with Blue Cheese Crumb and Sriracha Drizzle. It was actually really good.
HAD FORGOTTEN to mention that a couple of weeks ago, we saw the film Everything Everywhere All at Once. It was a bit crazy, a little hard to follow at times, manic and funny and perhaps worth it if only for the wildly romantic line, "...I wanted to say, in another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you."
Nearly two months ago, on April 26,2022, it was announced that Elon Musk was buying Twitter. Upon hearing the news, we immediately deleted the Belgrave Crescent Twitter account. Of course, the last time we’d tweeted anything there was in 2017 so it wasn’t being used anyway, but we thought it was a good time to finally make it official.
AFTER TRYING TWO sets of meals from a recipe box company over the past two weeks, this weekend we tried a new company that makes healthy meal kits and so far, the two meals we made were delicious! And, even more amazingly, P made the first and I made the second⏤and guess what? It actually turned out. Crazy right? In other news, finally had a chance to watch the 2014 film, The Theory of Everything ...
HAPPY MONDAY! It's the start of a three-day workweek before a four-day weekend and despite the gloomy skies and incessant rain, there seems to be a bounce in everyone's steps today.
