Leo Costelloe (b.1993) is an Irish-Australian artist and accessories designer living and working in London. Costelloe graduated from Central Saint Martins with a BA (Hons) in Jewellery Design and works with natural materials such as glass, shells, and silver. According to the artist, his work in glass, metal and silversmithing “explores the transient and sentimental nature of objects.” Costelloe draws inspiration from popular culture, spiritual practice and personal experience, creating sculptural works that “situate themselves in a liminal space somewhere between beauty and banality.” If you’re hoping to own some of his beautiful work, you may have to wait, for Costello works on a commisions only basis, opting not to produce multiples or replicas. Each work is handmade and the artist does not normally supply wholesale. If you’re in London this month, you’ll be able to see his new work at an upcoming exhibition at the Kupfer Project Space on the 24th of November.
