Notes from the Weekend

ALTHOUGH I am never awake for them, I prefer sunrises to sunsets. Sunsets are an ending, and I love beginnings. Sunsets mean the end of another day, which means time away from all the things I love to do, at least until the next morning. I guess it’s a FOMO of sorts, a constant fear of missing out when my eyes are closed. But at night, there’s always the excitement of thinking about what might come the next day. The freshly ground coffee we’ll make after we open the curtains and raise the blinds, the pain au chocolat or strawberries and blueberries we’ll have at breakfast. Sometimes I think about the passing of time and the fact that there are so many more books still to read; so many places still to see and photos to take; so many more films to watch, and records to listen to, again and again. The rainy mornings to come, and the summer nights. I try not to see time as running out, but to appreciate each moment as it happens, like right now as I’m writing to you.
