WHEN PEOPLE think of Ibiza, most think of a party place of nightclubs and late, late nights. The island is definitely known for its nightlife, but there is also another side to Ibiza: charming quiet villages, sandy beaches, yoga retreats, boutique hotels, restaurants and shops, and even secluded coves along the coast. Awhile ago, we were invited on a press trip there to showcase this side of the island and had the most relaxing and wonderful time, so when we happened across Cas Gasi on Dutch influencer Vivian Hoorn’s Istagram page, we had to find out more.
Named after the family who owned it for generations, Cas Gasi is an eco luxury boutique agrotourism hotel that was once a large farmhouse. Built in 1880, Cas Gasi is located in the Ibizan countryside on four hectares of land (filled with pine forests, olive and orange groves, and fig, almond, and carob trees) it is a quiet holiday hideaway removed from the bustle of Ibiza, a 20-minute drive away. The hotel’s current owners, Maga von Korff (a former Lufthansa flight attendant, Barcelona born of German origins) and her husband, Ibiza-born Luis Trigueros Juan (a lawyer and sailor), purchased the property in 1989 and restored it as their family home. Restoration and conversion work was in keeping with the property’s traditional Ibicencan architecture, with large porches and terraces, thick walls, and original Ibiza juniper wood ceilings. Ten years later, with the children all grown and moved away, Cas Gasi became a boutique hotel with 18 guest rooms open to the public. The property includes an outdoor pool and spa, a whirlpool, gym and yoga deck. Electric bikes are also available for hire.
