ON AN ESPECIALLY grim day around here, there will always be someone who mutters well you don’t live in Britain for the weather. And while that may be true, it’s definitely cosy when you’re sitting in someone’s home for tea where it’s bright and warm. There’s a distinctive décor style here that seems to make up for the rather gloomy weather. Here at TIG, we like to call spaces designed in this fashion garden rooms⏤rooms that are so bright and cheerful and filled with colour and prints and patterns that they nearly resemble being outdoors in a sunny garden. There are many ways to achieve the look: with wallpaper and fabrics and charming details such as box pleat and wicker lampshades; a mix of prints and patterns such as chintz and stripes and gingham and leopard. Whatever way you choose, the result should always be eclectic and a little bohemian, and always comfortable and welcoming. Scroll through for some of our favourite ways to create garden rooms…
