THIS WEEKEND WE TOOK the train farther than we’ve ever gone since lockdown began (about an hour and a half to another county) and it was the first time in nearly four months that I set foot inside a shop. Things were far from normal, as everyone was required to wear face masks while traveling and keep two meters apart at all times, but it seemed slightly more normal than leaving the house only to go for country walks. Next Saturday, on July 4th, pub gardens will open again, and our tiny English countryside village, which has eight pubs, seems busy with anticipation, mowing lawns and trimming hedges and even restuccoing and painting. It’s officially summertime, which, as you know, is my very favourite time, and I’ve been already traipsing about in white denim and have ordered new open-toed sandals with raffia heels. The world stills feel crazy, but perhaps we’re getting better at handling the craziness. Who knows anymore?
This week’s links include fancy French château whippets and a Danish summer cabin; organza blouses and espadrilles for summer days, and much, much more.
