OF ALL THE CURRENT spring trends, the silk scarf is one of our favourites. Pretty and versatile, you can wear it in your hair or adorn the handle of a handbag or wicker tote; wear it around the neck or the wrist, or channel Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and wear as a head-covering with oversize shades. Whatever your preference, nothing is quite as chic as a silk scarf this season (or anytime, really).
Year: 2019
20-year-old Atlanta native Zaia sits somewhere between artists like Kid Cudi & Childish Gambino with his style, multi-genred sound, and youthful but commanding energy. His new single “BLUE,” embodies all that and more.
PARIS - We've featured our share of Paris apartments here at TIG, as well beautiful interiors found on Instgram. This Haussmannian fits into both categories. L’Appartement La Fayette, as it is known, is Canadian Jackie Kai Ellis' latest project, a space she bought in the winter of 2017.
Have been going to the same places for the past few days: coffee at Kitsune, strolling on the Collete alley, window shopping around the galleries. I find there is magic in Palais-Royal and I get so disconnected while being there.
DANIELA wrote about Virginie Viard's appointment at Chanel in early March (The Woman Behind Chanel: Virginie Viard) and since then, we've been waiting to see the new creative director's debut. That moment has finally arrived, in Paris at the Grand Palais, which was turned into a train station.
IN THE MIDDLE of an actual hardcover book (after a long series already this year), but on a whim, decided to pick up the new Amazon Kindle Paperwhite this weekend, despite being an analog sort who still loves the feel of actual pages to turn and still uses notebooks and a pen everyday for to-do lists.
LONDON - It was the warm pink walls that drew us to this 1880s west London flat decorated by designer Virginia Howard. The designer was given free rein to change spaces around and do the architectural detailing, so the layout was completely transformed, most notably from three bedrooms to two and an enormous amount of storage added.
THIS WEEK’S LINKS come very late, for on Sunday night, we found ourselves spontaneously off to the south of France and decided to take (a very rare) few days off. The city was dripping with late spring sunshine and the skies were a blue that are only characteristic of the Mediterranean. We wandered the city streets, had long and leisurely lunches over wine, slept in late and rarely looked at our myriad social media accounts or any work at all, really, which was pure bliss. It was the closest we’ve come in a long time to unplugging it was magnificent. Now we’re back at the office (remotely), refreshed and excited to get back to work…
There is a restaurant in the 8th arrondissement in Paris, Noto, that I always wanted to tell you about. Haven’t had the chance to try it yet, but I really want to go, as I recently visited the small town of the same name, in Sicily, a polished city with beautiful palaces.
SPRING'S CHICEST look by far is the trouser or pant suit, and our favourite iteration of the trend is in always-elegant all white. Whether in linen or satin, white strappy sandals or chunky trainers, it's a look that is crisp yet relaxed and can go from office to weekend effortlessly.
SOMETIMES THE best place to find inspiring interiors is in the portfolios of photographers. Such is the case with Carley Page Summers, an interior photographer and stylist, passionate about photography from a young age.
You can call me overly obsessed with the trouser suit style and I will agree with you. I think there is no other style that makes a women look more powerful and confident, attractive and stylish than while wearing a full suit. When I spend my days at work in a suit, I never feel more comfortable or confident. In fact, I often get asked by my clients if they can try the look as well and this inspired me to write a few words about this great style option.
SENLIS - Entrepreneur (& famous ex-husband of Tory), Chris Burch, had always dreamed of owning an apartment in Paris, even narrowing down his dream to the exact building on rue de Seine. However, no such apartment was ever available.
PARIS - You may not know David Jimenez, but it's certain you'll know his work, for he has played a major part in developing the very specific aesthetics of Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and Williams Sonoma.
Stephen Hawking once said, “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change” and seeing as we’re on the brink of a massive change, these words will certainly be put to the test. Things have felt in a state of flux for the past few weeks now and we’re looking forward, at the end of all of this, to a few moments of calm, for a little time away, but mostly, for fresh starts and new beginnings… One thing is for certain, now more than ever, we know that nothing can happen to us as long as we’re together. This love is forever.
