Designed by Axel Vervoordt | At Home With: Antiques Dealer Betty Gertz, Dallas
Monday 30th December, 2019
As you know, we have been fans of Axel Vervoordt for a while now and featured a few of our favourite projects of his in April of 2018. Known for his incredibly calm, grand, sun-dappled, plant-filled and zen-like spaces in tones of whites and neutrals, this space, the home of Dallas-based antiques dealer Betty Gertz caught our eye for how different it is compared to the others in its use of colour. Deep purple walls and rich rust-coloured velvet settees intermingle with blues and yellows; there are pink silk sofas and the designer's signature use of ample wood in the parquet flooring and ceiling beams and bookcases and cabinetry, but all in all, there is a maximalist feel to this space that sets it apart from his other work. All very fitting, of course, for the home of someone who is a collector by nature. Scroll through for a glimpse...
