HAPPENED UPON the spring-summer 2014 Genny collection recently showing in Milan, quite by accident, and was immediately seduced by the sheer, fluttery dresses in shades of dusky lilac and white & gold fit for Grecian goddesses.

And as a salute to the brand’s 1990’s heyday, Genny also revived its logo and iconic rope print on silk trousers and blouses, finished with maxi chain-link bracelets, gilded belts and rhinestones, as well as luxe Murano glass beads and Swarovskis.

This collection also marked Sara Cavazza Facchini’s debut as the brand’s creative director.

“I wanted to make the brand even more feminine, elegant and sophisticated, using soft and more luxurious materials.” —Cavazzza Facchini

Facchini began her career at Genny in 2011, licensing eyewear, furs and perfumes, as well as ad campaign restyling. In the same year, the brand was acquired by high-end apparel manufacturer Swinger International of which Cavazza Facchini’s husband Mathias Facchini is CEO. A former model and mother of two, with a master’s degree in communications, Facchini may not have the fashion pedigree of her peers, but has nonetheless succeeded in creating a beautiful line that resurrects the glamour of times gone by . . .
