. . . if you ever find yourself in the south of france, be certain to visit the chateau la durantie . . .
built in 1845 for the duke of isly, the astonishingly romantic chateau is located in perigord vert, a beautiful and tranquil part of dordogne, southwest france, and is filled arched windows and juliet balconies, glittering chandeliers and canopy beds, luxurious marble baths and italian bedlinens, while outdoors, twelve acres of perfectly manicured grounds, swimming pool, tennis court and orchards . . . and already there are thoughts of sparkling holiday parties by the beautifully ornate fireplaces on chilly nights or an enchanting weekend away . . .

The South of France – or Le Midi – is where I imagine myself holidaying (or perhaps living) when I am a successful novelist. A chateau like this nearly always appears in my dreams… but I think you’d be more likely to find me in a villa like this:

This is breathtaking! Must be amazing in person.
So refined… so beautiful!
So pretty!
If only I could live there!. I love the way it’s a massive estate but the inside is just cozy enough. I know it’s in France but I still kept looking at the pictures thinking Mr.Darcy. Lovely post (as always.)
Oh, everything looks so relaxing!
Oh how I long to attend a sparkling holiday party as you say, on such elegant and gorgeous grounds! Tranquility with character…such a glamourous vintage charm to this stunning place.
Thank you for a dream-filled Monday! :)
