AT THE TIG Substack, we circle quantum manifestation. An intriguing notion: "Similarly, we exist in a superposition of probable realities until we consciously choose to observe or energise one into being." Observing my thoughts, I find negative ones often appear unbidden and work to banish these from consciousness, trying instead to envision desired outcomes.
Truman Burbank, the unwitting star of the world’s most popular TV show, is supposed to be an everyman. The Truman Show is set in an island town, Seahaven, that evokes the prefab conformities of American suburbia. Truman is a brand in a setting that is stridently generic. Since his birth, he has navigated a world manufactured—by Christof, the creator of his show—for lucrative inoffensiveness. Everything around him exists to fulfill the primary mandate of a mass-market TV show: appealing to the widest possible audience.
Last week, at Google’s annual conference dedicated to new products and technologies, the company announced a change to its premier AI product: The Bard chatbot, like OpenAI’s GPT-4, will soon be able to describe images.

PERHAPS IT IS the shortening days that fade even before 7:30 now, or the evening chill that flutters leaves and creeps in before suppertime. Whatever the reason, we find ourselves drawn to deeper, darker hues lately, and especially to a variation of pinkish brown (or brownish pink, if you like) that we seem to be seeing everywhere lately ...
WE ACTUALLY DISCOVERED the ultra-chic Paris apartment of Christine d’Ornano via Barbara, who used to write for TIG. d’Ornano, who works for the French botanical beauty brand, Sisley Paris, moved from London to Paris when she moved up in the company to the position of global vice president in 2018 ...
AT THIS MOMENT, Mark, our internet service provider engineer, is upstairs installing our new service, replacing Alexa and a year and a half of a very slow and spotty connection once and for all, we hope. We are meeting this new year head-on and have decided to be a little more proactive with things, and so far it seems to be working. This week's links are late, late because have been wrapped in mundane administrative tasks that have piled up until they were no longer avoidable ...
WHEN PETER COPPING stepped down as creative director at Oscar de la Renta four years ago, he began spending more time at La Carlière, the 15th-century manor house he and his French husband Rambert Rigaud bought 12 years ago. Located in the Normandy countryside just two hours from Paris, the home was once a weekend escape from the city ...

AS YOU KNOW, since moving to the countryside, we've been obsessed with country farm house style, whether in the south of France or the rolling hills of Italy, and can not resist anything with wood ceiling beams and stone walls these days. This particular home, in Silverleaf, Scottsdale Arizona, has both...
OUR FONDEST FAREWELL to summer is always one of our most popular series, not because everyone is happy to see the most beautiful season go, but because our readers love it so and want to give the proper send-off that it deserves...
