Supermodel, businesswoman and activist, Bella Hadid, appears on the April 2024 cover of Vogue Italia, radiating an authentic and present sense of self. In her interview with Sofia Viganò, Bella remarks, “For the first time since I can remember I am clear and present. I have the feeling that, by showing my most authentic self, things and people have aligned with my destiny.”
In 1967, the physicist John Wheeler was giving a lecture about a mysterious and startling phenomenon in deep space that the field was just beginning to understand.
Since the pandemic upended the world, we’ve been getting plenty of mixed signals about cities. We’ve heard both that cities like New York are over and that they’re immensely popular. Are they bastions of disease that people will forever avoid?
ON FRIDAY evening we had that pub thing in Vauxhall that had been telling you about. It turned out to be less of a business meeting, and more of a quick dinner and some drinks, all over in an hour and a half. Afterward, we wandered around, ended up in the quirkiest little Spanish bar with a juke a box playing Strawberry Fields and a hilarious clientele in various stages of drunkenness.
Last September, Catherine Heymans, one of the world’s leading cosmologists, was supposed to board a ferry for the northernmost island in the Orkney archipelago. The island, North Ronaldsay, is among the darkest inhabited places on earth. On a clear winter’s night, it is easy to be awed by the thousands upon thousands of stars visible to the naked eye, which spill their unpolluted light upon the Earth. Heymans, who is the first woman appointed astronomer royal for Scotland, was planning to explain to the island’s 60 or so residents that those stars, and the rest of the perceptible universe, represent a mere fraction of the stuff that makes up our cosmos. What she studies is everything we cannot see: the darkness.

Even still, Hill's expert layering works for any weather...
IN 2009 VIRGIL ABLOH was an intern at Fendi with Kanye West. Before that, he was a DJ at a wine bar the midwest. Yesterday, the 38-year-old father of two made history with his debut menswear collection in Paris as the first African-American in the role of creative head at Louis Vuitton, prompting InStyle to dub him "the Meghan Markle of Fashion". The Ghanaian-American engineer/architect/DJ/designer/Ikea collaborator (who prefers not to be labelled) has been the artistic director of the French fashion house's men's wear collection since March 2018.
“Soul Syncable,” Sevdaliza’s latest slice of ambitious dark pop, emerged on the day of the super blue blood moon—should you believe in trippy lunar happenings—and was accompanied by a special message. “These are glimpses of her supernatural realm,” wrote the Iranian-Dutch musician. The “her” was unclear—perhaps a reference to herself, or to the moon.
