They Want Su! (Produced by IAMSU!)
Iamsu is joining the fun of the surprise release trend. The Bay Area rapper dropped a new album called 6 Speed without any hint of its arrival prior to this week. Considering the project’s title, it may be a sequel to his 2012 album Suzy 6 Speed. It also is a direct follow-up to his Kilt 3 album which dropped this past March.
6 Speed features 10 tracks with most of the production handled by Iamsu. Lil Rece and Tramua Tone handle the two tracks Iamsu did not produce on his own. Show Banga and Hella Rawh are the only guests appearing on the album.
Iamsu putting out his own surprise LP may have been inspired by Frank Ocean. The rapper was one of the few people to hear Ocean’s Blonde album before its unexpected release last week.

Hudson Mohawke – Shanghaied
Since releasing his sophomore album Lantern last year, Hudson Mohawke has kept himself pretty preoccupied with a variety of different side projects. He teamed up with Danny Brown for a new version of a Boys Noize song as well as remixed both DJ Shadow and Boards of Canada. For his latest endeavor, the Scottish producer is taking his beats to the TV screen, helming the original soundtrack for the new video game Watch_Dogs 2.
Due out November 11th via Warp Records, the upcoming effort — officially titled Ded Sec – Watch Dogs — is being teased with a track called “Shanghaied”. Not unlike HudMo’s own solo output, the song goes hard and maintains a sense of urgency. He spoke about the soundtrack in a statement:
“I get really restless working on projects that are expected to fall within certain ‘genres’, when I’ve always made all kinds of music. Working on a soundtrack was a really exciting and refreshing prospect for me, especially considering the themes involved in the game are things I’m also passionate about. In 2016, this project, along with the ANOHNI LP, have allowed me to experiment and have the opportunity to reach new audiences with my music without needing a ‘genre’ stamp. I think that’s why Ubisoft approached me to work alongside them in developing the game as a whole – I wanted to use the palette of some cult sci fi soundtracks but incorporating my own style. It’s been a real learning experience and even a challenge at some points but very rewarding in terms of expressing myself creatively.”

San Holo – RAW
The last couple years have been nothing but up for San Holo. Having dropped a crazy raw and funky song on the TV show Silicon Valley last week, the Dutch producer just gave us a taste of his upcoming Gouldian Finch compilation, with his latest single ‘Still Looking‘.
The track has amazing synths that create a melody which combines the best of future bass and trap. Combined with amazing vocal chops that perfectly complement the percussion and bass of the song, ‘Still Looking’ goes to show the creative ability of San Holo.
Given that the compilation is coming out on Holo’s label, bitbird, I’m sure we can expect the entire compilation to be just as fire as this single.

Clipping. – Shooter
The Los Angeles rap experimentalists clipping. have a long history of making amazing videos with the director Carlos Lopez Estrada, and they’ve got a new one this morning. It’s for “Shooter,” a track from Wriggle, the EP that the group released this summer, before they got around to releasing their Splendor & Misery concept album. In the clip, we see rapper Daveed Diggs, as well as some dancers, standing in empty black space while bullets and explosions fill the air around them. It’s a powerful, stylized vision, the latest in a long series of them.
