FROM THE EDITOR, JULY 2015
WE DON’T OFTEN HAVE much time to watch television, but P & I have caught a few episodes lately, of a series about British families who relocate in search of “a pared down existence, off-grid and out of the rat race”, moving to extreme places, some rather magical: in the shadows of a volcano at the foothills of the Andes; some nearly uninhabitable, such as the wild rainforests of Belize in Central America; or at the Arctic Circle in a remote cabin in the snow-covered forests of north Sweden.
The common factor in all of these stories is that rather than being consumed with acquiring, as was their lives in cities, they are now spending their days in doing and making and experiencing. The series has led to quite a few inspiring conversations between us, and has left me with the thought that “doing what you love” is somewhat the same thing, for we have long left behind the confines of 9 to 5 for the wilds of boundless creativity and high learning curves and unset hours and have never looked back . . .
Which leads me to the topic of the photographs featured here. This Is Glamorous has always been known, since the very beginning (eternal love to the very many of you who have been here all along), for finding and sharing beautiful and inspiring things from around the world and around the internets, discovering and supporting new and emerging talent, as well as celebrating history and experience. We have also had the opportunity to work with many talented people over the years, and Victoria Berezhna is one such person.
From the day we discovered her site and immediately fell in love with her optimism and innate sense of aesthetics and style, to over a year later that she has been contributing to This Is Glamorous, we have always known that Victoria was multi-talented — this set of photographs that she took recently for Belgrave Crescent are a small glimpse. Taken with her mother’s Nikon D700 in Spain and with her sister as model, we absolutely fell in love with the fresh, light, summery vibe and can not wait to see what the future has in store for her. You can read Victoria’s articles for This Is Glamorous here, and visit her site here.
June has been an extremely busy month — we’re looking forward to slowing things down a little for July and spending more time in doing and making and experiencing, for after all, it is summertime . . .
