Already a week back home from holidays and buried in work and I am almost forgetting again how wonderful life is when you travel and you have adventures and discover new places.
MONTREAL - We first came across the Old Montreal (Vieux-Montréal) apartment of Lauren MacLean (@livingbylo) on the Apartment Therapy Instagram page and immediately fell in love with its impossible chicness. MacLean, who has "always been very passionate about interior design and beautiful spaces" works in the corporate world by day, using decorating as a creative outlet. "I believe your surroundings can really influence your state of mind so I try to create spaces that are not only visually attractive, but also carry a peaceful energy, paying attention to all the senses" she says. Her Montreal home, which has all the charm of a Paris apartment with its crown moulding and boiserie, a stone fireplace and herringbone floors, floor-to-ceiling windows and floods of light, also has a surprise back terrace filled with white trelliage and a myriad plants...
The Allis lounge and bar at Soho House Chicago is one of those places that is immediately noticeable on your Instagram feed, with its grand proportions and chic juxtaposition of industrial ceilings and concrete pillars with crystal chandeliers, velvet sofas and beautiful herringbone flooring ...
SOMETIMES ON WEEKENDS (if there’s time) we like to watch random old films that we’ve never heard about, and this weekend, it we found a great one. It’s called Lost in America (1985) and is about a “husband and wife in their 30’s [who] decide to quit their jobs, live as free spirits and cruise America in a Winnebago.”
House & Garden recently featured the Georgian home of Jack Laver Brister, an antiques dealer and interior decorator living in Frome, Somerset. The 1780s home, with he shares with his partner Richard Nares, is the most deliciously maximalist with its blend of eighteenth and early nineteenth century furniture, prints, patterns, textures, colours, and art.
WE HAVE A BOARD at the TIG Pinterest page called Organise that is dedicated to all the best storage solution inspiration. There are copper pot racks in the kitchen and perfect tiled shower nooks in the powder room and charming armoires with curtained chicken wire in the dining room.
