THERE IS A LINE in Ernest Hemingway's A Moveable Feast that says, “When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest”, and that is how we're feeling at this very moment, after a walk in the palm-tree laden jardins ...
THERE IS A SPANISH BOOKSTORE that we love to visit that has all the best magazines. It was here, the other day, that had come across the latest issue of Elle Decoration España with the new home of couturier Jorge Vázquez on the cover. Of course, as an unabashed maximalist, it was love at first site. The Spanish fashion designer worked with his friend and decorator, Amaro Sánchez de Moya, who also designed Vázquez's store in La Coruña.
IF THERE EVER were a place made of Instagram dreams, this is the place. While We Were Young Kitchen & Cocktails on West 10th Street, NYC's pink tufted velvet banquettes and marble tables and countertops, not to mention their menu of 'Healthy Contemporary American Cuisine' is like a siren song for tourists and locals alike. Mains include dishes such as Avocado Toast ($18), Wild Salmon ($28), Chicken & Waffles ($25), Main Lobster ($31), and adventurous cocktails such as The Morning After (Jasmine-Infused Bourbon, Aperol, Cinnamon, Lemon), and Too Good For You (Tequila, Kale, Lime, Agave, Cucumber) are on offer. Set off against the pink velvet is a dusky blue bar with blue and gold stools for sitting at the counter. Quotes by Walt Witman adorn the walls. Scroll through for a glimpse...
Happened across Jenny Wolf's apartment in Vogue by way of Instagram and in just the three slide images she posted, immediately needed to see the rest of the space. The former Ralph Lauren employee turned interior designer found the Cobble Hill townhouse, which was built in the 1800s, in good condition, but embarked on a full-scale renovation nonetheless to modernise the space. The pink tufted sofa is clearly the showpiece in the living room, bringing colour and whimsy to a black and white palette. Other charming features include a master bedroom with a wallpapered ceiling, and a palette of pink of black for daughter Lili's room. Scroll through for a glimpse of this ultra-chic space ...
ON SUNDAY we packed a wicker basket filled with baguettes, cheeses, jamón ibérico, pâté and something fizzy to drink and went to the gardens to lounge away a beautiful day in the sun. We found a perfect spot nestled amongst trees grouped in circular pattens, forming small open spaces in their midst that beckoned the laying down of a blanket and the kicking off of one's shoes to feel soft grass on bare feet. Since most of our picnics occur at the seaside, this one was a lovely change, the rustling of the leaves and the sound of cicadas intermingling in the late-afternoon air heavy with the scent of blossoms and dreams. It was a perfect way to spend a summer's day.
Our recent Edit on How to Style Throw Cushions at Home & the Office was one of your favourites, so we thought we might follow-up with something we're even more obsessed with than designer throw cushions (if that is even possible): animal print. IF YOU ARE EVER searching for a way to change up a room quickly and with the most impact, try changing out the throw cushions. Below, we've rounded up a few of our favourite ways to style throw cushions both at home and the office, from pairing elegant chintzes with seaside tones to black & white paired with pink velvet ...
Turntable Kitchen recently commissioned Yumi Zouma to cover a classic record in its entirety for the site’s Sounds Delicious subscription service. After months of deliberation, the Yumis eventually landed on Oasis’ landmark 1995 LP (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, and without giving away too many spoilers, let’s just say they nailed it.
