Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Those aren’t just lyrics from the Queen song “Bohemian Rhapsody.” They’re also the questions that the brain must constantly answer while processing streams of visual signals from the eyes and purely mental pictures bubbling out of the imagination.
ALTHOUGH I am never awake for them, I prefer sunrises to sunsets. Sunsets are an ending, and I love beginnings. Sunsets mean the end of another day, which means time away from all the things I love to do, at least until the next morning. I guess it’s a FOMO of sorts, a constant fear of missing out when my eyes are closed.
TIME AGAIN for another Life Lately, and these past few days and weeks have felt rather busy, especially following the enforced hibernation of the lockdown years, which are beginning to feel like a million lifetimes ago now. There was an early morning train ride to Edinburgh at the beginning of the month and another to Glasgow the following day; and then all the way to the south, nearly as far as Wales just last week...
IT IS ONLY the second week in January, and yet it feels like a lot more time has passed since the holidays. The decorations are still up and we're still turning on the white Christmas lights in the evenings, glittery in their delicate glass globes and strung along the archway of the built-in bookcase in the corner, instantly making things feel festive. Valentine's weekend was cosy fires and late-night conversations, glasses of wine in fluted glasses; music and films, and chocolate. P made an extra special dinner on Sunday and while other years may have been spent at dinner reservations at fancy restaurants, and despite the lockdown conditions, it didn't feel like anything was missing.
ON FRIDAY there was a salon appointment in the city, so we decided to spend the day. We stopped in for flat whites at our favourite coffee shop, did a little shopping, visited the art gallery and stopped in for oysters at a fancy food hall ...

EVERY YEAR, AROUND this time, we always like to celebrate springtime with a bright moodboard of the all the beautiful things there are to look forward to: blossoming pink magnolias and bicycle rides, spectacular sunsets by the sea, light spring jackets and bouquets of white tulips―and while things feel like they may never been the same again, we created this moodboard for happier days to come...
THIS WEEK'S MINI TREND features the unlikely pairing of gold jewellery and swimwear. It may seem counterintuitive, but really, upon carefully inspection, is actually chic, chic... Here are a few favourite examples for your Style File.
Sara Shakeel's bio simply and hilariously says, "I was a Dentist". And it's no wonder that she uses the past tense, for The Original Crystal Artist is enjoying quite a bit of internet notoriety these days.
IT’S THE WEEKEND! And despite the rather sombre start, there are still things to look forward to, for in the...
This letter arrives months late, but with good reason, for it has been the most eventful past few months ever, we can assure you! Life-changing in many ways, both personally & professionally, the year 2015 will go down in history as one to remember always.
