AND THERE ARE GOLD tinsel garlands strewn all about the place, gold cocktail shakers and gilded drinking glasses, all the Christmas cards have been written, but have yet to be posted, and a lull hangs in the air...
THE LEAVES HAVE ALL turned golden and billowed off the trees, falling, falling and there is an undeniable crispness in the morning air, and not evening goes by without thought of a fire or candles lit, and there’s just something a little romantic and cosy about the days now.
THE DAYS MAY BE GETTING SHORTER, but the nights are cosy, and the mornings filled with slants of golden light and coffee.
AND WHILE FALL will always fall second place to summer here, there is no denying its astonishing loveliness and romance — there are still the last of the roses in blossom, the leaves have begun to turn and billow off the branches, falling, falling...
A tumble of beautiful things in shades of pink & leopard print — a medicine cabinet filled with lovely things, hand-lettering and silk curtains and bouquets upon bouquets of peonies...
. . . and for today, because it is so very late, an enchanting and intoxicating intermingling of insanely lovely wood floors, chandeliers, waterlilies and topiaries, settees and staircases and one breathtakingly beautiful gold étagère . . .
. . . and it has been an introspective time, for certain, a time of change and thinking and planning, and for dreaming, of course, and nothing and everything, at once, inspires -- spring blossoms and words, the chic-ness of leopard print and the importance of butterflies; ornate ceilings and waking to fiery may sunrises, and if thoughts at this moment were to fall, they would look something like this . . .
