IT WAS ONLY A MATTER of time before we happened upon Julia Amory's Hamptons home in all its chintz-y splendour. Amory, her husband and their daughter split their time between New York City and the Hamptons, and it is this, their summer home, that we are in love with. Decidedly grandmillennial in style, it's a little new traditional with a healthy dose of grandma chic thrown in for good measure.
THIS WEEKEND, the weather warmed up enough to show us a glimpse of spring. All through the village, winter blossoms are blooming, a surprise to us, for we thought all the bright yellow petals on bushes nexts to garden paths and pink blossoms on the archways of trellises would wait for at least another few weeks.
Mornings are crisp and grey, often there is rain and lights on in the windows, and with my current sleep routine (early sleeping and early rising) I am often spending mornings sipping coffee and going through some books...
ONE LOOK THROUGH our Décor Archives and you will notice immediately that there are very few contemporary interiors and a thorough fondness for maximalism. We've always favoured traditional or new traditional styles to anything modern, being drawn instead, to ornamentation―gilded mirrors and chandeliers, toile and boiserie and crown canopies. The closest we've ever ventured to the modern or minimal is ornate austerity.
There is something exciting about interior design, redecorating the living room and having the perfect set up. I think it’s more important to purchase, from time to time, statement pieces―perfect pieces―than rather spending frequently on little pieces that eventually will be hidden somewhere because they don’t fit the aesthetics of your space. I’ve waited months and months for a rug that will fit my little studio and I don’t regret the investment.

Nick Nemechek's Copenhagen apartment is not the kind the we normally gravitate to here at TIG, for it errs a little on the masculine side, but we love to push the boundaries of our aesthetics to keep things new and fresh. WE FEATURED THE Grand Hotel Villa Feltrinelli in the summer of 2015, but the hotel has since redesigned their website and new photos have emerged. Situated on the picturesque Lake Garda in Italy, the neo-Gothic villa was built in 1892 as a summer home for the famous Italian publisher Feltrinelli family. PARIS - We've featured our share of Paris apartments here at TIG, as well beautiful interiors found on Instgram. This Haussmannian fits into both categories. L’Appartement La Fayette, as it is known, is Canadian Jackie Kai Ellis' latest project, a space she bought in the winter of 2017.
MONTREAL - We first came across the Old Montreal (Vieux-Montréal) apartment of Lauren MacLean (@livingbylo) on the Apartment Therapy Instagram page and immediately fell in love with its impossible chicness. MacLean, who has "always been very passionate about interior design and beautiful spaces" works in the corporate world by day, using decorating as a creative outlet. "I believe your surroundings can really influence your state of mind so I try to create spaces that are not only visually attractive, but also carry a peaceful energy, paying attention to all the senses" she says. Her Montreal home, which has all the charm of a Paris apartment with its crown moulding and boiserie, a stone fireplace and herringbone floors, floor-to-ceiling windows and floods of light, also has a surprise back terrace filled with white trelliage and a myriad plants...
After happening upon the stunning powder room featured in this week's Weekend Links @graciestudio on Instagram earlier this week, had decided to find out more about this beautiful renovation and discovered that it belonged to Adam and Amber Ford, a husband and wife team living in Knoxville, Tennessee.
