WE'RE STILL in the process of repopulating our archives after the technical disaster that was 2020 saw the obliteration of thousands of images from our hosting site; many personal images were also lost from our external drives due to another (un-related) catastrophe, but that is another story. And in the process of fixing a 2017 article by Daniela featuring the work of Lázaro Rosa-Violán—the interior designer responsible for many of the chicest hotels and restaurants around the world ...
IN THE PAST WEEK, we ate a little too much, drank a little too much, and watched a lot of holiday films. I did something that was very strange to my being, a thing very foreign to me, a thing normal people refer to as relaxing. For the first time in a very long time, I did not work for five days straight. It was wonderful, actually.
I’ve been obsessing over marble tables for a while now. While apartment hunting, I fantasize about how I will decorate my new space and have been dreaming about either a dining table, side table, or coffee table in marble, or all of them ...
THIS WEEK’S Blogger Style features the utterly charming Instagram photos of Lovisa Barkman (@lovisabarkman). Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Barkman's life in pictures includes chunky knits on a sandy beach and a tiny puppy in a wicker handbag ...
THERE IS A THEORY that people are more productive in beautiful office spaces. If this theory were true, then Office E, in Berlin, Germany must have the highest levels of productivity ever.
BEFORE THE LOCKDOWN, our Instagram feed was filled with fashion influencers in elaborate magazine-like editorials taken in exotic and far-flung locations. Over the past three months however, due to travel restrictions and stay at home guidance, we began seeing an influx of at-home mirror selfies ...
Have been working on my wardrobe for a while know, re-editing my closet and the pieces I am buying and it’s still a work in progress to create the ideal capsule wardrobe ...
THIS MORNING, THE entire countryside was covered in a layer of frost—the rooftops, with their wisps of white chimney smoke, the well-manicured hedges in front gardens and each red and fallen leaf on the sidewalks. And on the hills in the distance, a softly rising mist...
Here’s some music trivia to end your week to. How many tracks could you name that were released in the 50s that have been reinvented in every decade since, by internationally-known artists from across the musical spectrum and to massive popular and critical acclaim?
WHEN WE LIVED in Edinburgh, the archway of the gate to our private gardens was covered in lilacs―the most wonderfully fragrant ones that filled the air and the entire street and added the loveliest dash of colour to the cloudy skies. P would often pick a few bunches for me for the coffee table and our place would be enveloped in the heady scent.
The Verride Palacio Santa Catarina describes itself as a renovated historic townhouse in the heart of Lisbon―an understatement, perhaps, for the 18th-century palacio turned boutique hotel. Originally the home of a Portuguese count, the building was once a bank and even a venue for a pop-up art festival. The 1750 four-storey, 19 room hotel is located in Lisbon’s Chiado quarter and features stunning views over the Tagus River and Atlantic Ocean.
WE FEATURED THE Grand Hotel Villa Feltrinelli in the summer of 2015, but the hotel has since redesigned their website and new photos have emerged. Situated on the picturesque Lake Garda in Italy, the neo-Gothic villa was built in 1892 as a summer home for the famous Italian publisher Feltrinelli family. Today, it is a luxury hotel with 20 suites. Read more about this romantic get-away here, and scroll through for a glimpse into its beautiful old-world rooms and corridors...
PARIS - You may not know David Jimenez, but it's certain you'll know his work, for he has played a major part in developing the very specific aesthetics of Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and Williams Sonoma.
NASHVILLE - Because it's officially spring, this week's At Home With is the Nashville home of interior designer Minnette Jackson and her husband, who moved to Tennessee from New York City seven years ago.
MONTREAL - We first came across the Old Montreal (Vieux-Montréal) apartment of Lauren MacLean (@livingbylo) on the Apartment Therapy Instagram page and immediately fell in love with its impossible chicness. MacLean, who has "always been very passionate about interior design and beautiful spaces" works in the corporate world by day, using decorating as a creative outlet. "I believe your surroundings can really influence your state of mind so I try to create spaces that are not only visually attractive, but also carry a peaceful energy, paying attention to all the senses" she says. Her Montreal home, which has all the charm of a Paris apartment with its crown moulding and boiserie, a stone fireplace and herringbone floors, floor-to-ceiling windows and floods of light, also has a surprise back terrace filled with white trelliage and a myriad plants...
