Between new year's resolutions, new projects and new goals, wanted to share some photos from what is considered one of the most influential buildings in the world, situated in Piambino Dese, a town of 9,000 habitants, 19 miles northwest of Venice.
IN THESE LAST DAYS before Christmas, the city sidewalks are filled with last-minute shoppers, merry with the flush of cava and happy to be jostled about by the elbows and shopping bags of grandmothers with arms filled with gifts, and couples hoping to surprise one another with their thoughtfulness. Everywhere, there seems to be a feeling of good cheer.
FEW THINGS can conjure up the holiday spirit more than a perfectly decorated home and Ven House, the early-Georgian mansion built for a wealthy lawyer (who went bankrupt in the process) in the countryside near the Somerset village of Milborne Port, is exactly that.
WE FIRST featured this Paris apartment in the Place des Vosges three years ago, in September 2015. Decorated by French-American designer Marianne Tiegen, this space was featured in its entirety despite not all the rooms being exactly our taste.

SOMETIMES ON WEEKENDS (if there’s time) we like to watch random old films that we’ve never heard about, and this weekend, it we found a great one. It’s called Lost in America (1985) and is about a “husband and wife in their 30’s [who] decide to quit their jobs, live as free spirits and cruise America in a Winnebago.”

Beaverbrook Hotel is a late-nineteenth-century mansion set in the Surrey Hills, the quintessential British Country Estate. Decorator Susie Atkinson was tasked with designing something essentially British and romantic, "current but not trendy, comfortable and completely individual" (House & Garden). It is something she achieved brilliantly with tufted velvet and (Bowood) florals, dusky pink walls, cane chairs and Louise Bourgeois gallery walls...
I first introduced Private Choice in October of last year (you can read more about it here). I recently attended the 6th edition of the event, where Nadia Candet had once again asserted her curatorial taste on the Haussmannien apartment where the event is held with a selection of contemporary artists and designers, a wide variety of artwork, furniture and design objects that come together as a unified whole. This year’s theme is highlighting the Current Trends. The great mise en scene is not only an exhibition event but also a private sale event.
