From a distance, you might have mistaken them for teenagers, though they were in late middle age. It wasn’t just the miniskirts and heels on their slim frames, or the ponytails and flaming lipstick, but the girlish way the women held hands, stroked arms, massaged shoulders, smoothed sleeves and straightened bag straps, giddy with affection. Their makeup was heavy, with boldly pencilled brows, and their long hair tinted black or dyed brassy blond – recreating a youth that had never been theirs to enjoy.
THIS WEEK'S At Home With features the Brooklyn home of Somin Yoo (@sominyoo), a designer and ceramicist who lives in the cozy residential Boerum Hill neighbourhood located in the northwestern part of the city. Not only is it a relaxed, homey tree-lined area of brownstones and townhouses, but Yoo's home is every bit as chic a space as you might imagine someone with a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art from Yale might live.

Happened across Jenny Wolf's apartment in Vogue by way of Instagram and in just the three slide images she posted, immediately needed to see the rest of the space. The former Ralph Lauren employee turned interior designer found the Cobble Hill townhouse, which was built in the 1800s, in good condition, but embarked on a full-scale renovation nonetheless to modernise the space. The pink tufted sofa is clearly the showpiece in the living room, bringing colour and whimsy to a black and white palette.
