IBM is one of the oldest technology companies in the world, with a raft of innovations to its credit, including mainframe computing, computer-programming languages, and AI-powered tools. But ask an ordinary person under the age of 40 what exactly IBM does (or did), and the responses will be vague at best.
THE BIO ON Deborah Needleman's Instagram page says, "Baskets, flowers, other people’s houses, the occasional dog, things like that". And for the most part, that's true, except that recently, she began posting images of her own home, a country house in Garrison, Upstate New York, which was published in Architectural Digest about a week ago, and we couldn't help but be absorbed with every last detail.
IF YOU'RE wondering how we came across the work of Gregory Mellor, it is through the Bobbejaanskloof Private Nature Reserve in South Africa that we featured here last week. The Cape Town-based designer was behind that wonderfully decorated travel resort and you may see similarities to this home in the Karoo, a semi-desert natural region of South Africa ...
IF YOU ARE LOOKING to truly get away from everything, look no further than Captains Rest, possibly one of the most remote Airbnbs in Australia—an 80-year-old heritage listed absolute waterfront cottage in Lettes Bay Village, just outside of Strahan, Tasmania, with its own jetty at the front to be precise. Lettes Bay Village itself is a heritage shack community—busy in the summer and quiet in the winter ...
AT THE BEGINNING of the summer, P & I bought folding bikes and on every sunny day over the past few weeks, we went on as many bicycle rides along the English countryside as we could, often ending up in charming, cosy pubs, places with names like The Wallace Arms and Rose & Crown; The Black Bull and Robin Hood. On one trip, our longest, we went from the city all the way to the seaside ...
WHEN I FIRST began putting together this instalment of Life Lately, had actually disabled the entire TIG Instgram account (as in, removed it from the internet) and deleted the app from my phone—hence the title. Also took time off from Twitter at same time and reclaimed all of the EXTRA hours left from those two alone to catch up on reading (currently reading this book). Recently, in our triweekly articles series, we had included two very interesting articles on this very topic: The Case for Deleting Everything and America Offline, both of which had confirmed my restless feelings and urge to be extremely and wildly social media-free.
I have been longing for gatherings for as long as I can remember. There’s comfort, love and protection when it comes to the feeling of being around family and friends around a table, and there is one place that has this same philosophy: Villa Magnan. Situated in the what is known as the "European California" on the Côte Basque, where everything revolves around surfing, Villa Magnan is a charming six-bedroom boutique-hôtel oasis for those visiting Biarritz, in the South West of France.
WE FEATURED THE WORK of interior photographer and stylist Carley Page Summers twice before (here & here), but she has since added more images of her North Carolina home to her Instagram page and it's all marble and crystal chandeliers, gilded mirrors and dappled sunlight, a cat on a dining room table, and a dog curled up on a pink velvet armchair by the fire ...
EVERY YEAR, around this time, it's a TIG tradition to share holiday inspiration. While this year is definitely not like other years, we still have to make the best of it. And so, this year, we share with you pretty festive wreaths on windows and doors, Christmas trees along sidewalk cafés in Paris and sweeping garlands down balustrades in the Upper East Side; evergreens draped in fairy lights, snow in the Cotswolds and more...
Despite actually living it for the past year and a bit, only came across the term cottagecore recently. Cottagecore (also known as farmcore, countrycore, naturecore, honeycore or warmcore) is the internet aesthetic taking over our screens lately with its ultra-romanticised interpretation of rural and countryside life ...
