AT THIS MOMENT, Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp are all down and have been for a few hours now. It's such a big deal that it made the six o'clock news. I deleted WhatsApp a long time ago, when Facebook changed the privacy rules, but we do use Facebook for TIG and Instagram as well, although to a much lesser extent the past few weeks. It feels strangely peaceful without them and it's made me wonder what life would be like if all three of them just vanished forever ...

WHILE IT HAS been sunny lately and all the leaves are still wonderfully green with only a few touches of yellow here and there, and only a few that have fallen along pathways and around the foot of signs at coffee and ice cream shops, it was blustery today. The kind of blustery wind that has a coolness attached to it, the kind that is meant to shake leaves from trees and carry them away ...
Whether you live someplace where the transition to fall was drastically quick or you are still enjoying warm days and chilly summer-fall evenings, either way, fashion-wise, there is always one piece that has its moment of glory this time of year, and that is for me it is the blazer ...
IT HAS BEEN TWO weeks since we took a break from updating the TIG Instagram account, and since then, we have received so many notes and emails from you saying how much you love stopping by the site again. We have so many more wonderful things to share with you here, but things are a little sporadic at the moment due to summer festivals and sunny days ...
IT'S THE HEIGHT of summer and the weather has been all over the place this year. After a perfectly wonderful sun-drenched week of bicycle rides in the countryside and a day by the seaside, the weather is set to change again—to overcast skies and rain. Here are a few looks we've been collecting lately, style inspiration for navigating these mid-summer days: from layering shorts with a light knit and a trench to classic summer whites and more ...
EMMA HILL, this week's Blogger Style feature, may be the queen of autumn dressing, but since the weather hasn't been exactly cooperating lately, perhaps a little cool weather style inspiration is appropriate, until at least (hopefully) next week, when summer promises to return again. Even still, Hill's expert layering works for any weather...
THIS WEEK’S Style File features the impossibly chic looks of Maria Kragmann (@mariakragmann). Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Kragmann is the founder of clothing brand M-KAE, filled with neutral basics, athleisure and quilted valley shorts. Why we love her style: not only does Kragmann master the ability of layering, but she switches from dressy in blazers and camel coats to sporty chic and trainers effortlessly.
ON MONDAY WE went into the city for the first time in a long time, stopped for oat milk flat whites at our favourite coffee shop (so nice!), browsed flower stands and shopped for champagne truffles. We had take-away sushi for lunch and ended up on a sun-drenched terrace overlooking the river where we sipped drinks in the spring air ...
I am used to feeling worthy only when I am productive, when I work a lot, and for as long I can remember, since I changed my country for the first time, all I knew was work. I love working, have never said no to job calls, and I always measured my self-worth with the amount of work I am getting done. But for a while now things have been different; after living through the first year of a pandemic, there has been a carousel of emotions and states of mind, and the work side of things has definitely not been the same ...
Seeing people dressed in trench coats on the streets inspires me, maybe more than other pieces of clothing, for my brain somehow always associates the silhouette with cinema scenes. There are a few great movies that showcase the classic trench and I’d like to share a few of my favourites.
YESTERDAY, WAS FEELING out of sorts, even before realising that it was Blue Monday, the day that's said to be the most depressing of the year. Had thought it was because the new marble coffee table I'd ordered arrived on Saturday morning in pieces, or perhaps because of the constant rain and gloomy skies, but whatever the reason, I'm happy that today is another day and that yesterday is firmly in the past ...
AWOKE ON SUNDAY morning believing that it was Monday, already in the sleepy morning cobwebs of my mind planning ambitiously, the week ahead before P let me know that it was Sunday. Immediately all thoughts of industry were forgotten and an easy, somnolent mood set back in. It's all mindset, you see, and for some inexplicable reason, I'd lost an entire day and gained it back again just in time to fully enjoy an "extra" day of the weekend
THERE IS AN URGENCY to life here in the UK, that we didn't find in Spain and it seems to be directly dependent on the weather. It's an urgency that's not only sensible, but necessary to help manage the disappointment that will inevitably come during the course of a British summer ...
Silk is the epitome of elegance and chic, and no matter what the runways dictate, it will always be a staple in any stylish wardrobe. There is something about silk pieces that never fail to enthrall.
With everyone excited about the new beginning after the pandemic, I wanted to share some styling ideas for this new start and what is left of spring ...
