I AM NOT sure why―when it happens every year―I am so unprepared for winter. The cold. The dampness. The continual overcast skies. And most of all, the darkness. Yes, the days have been, happily, incrimentally longer every day since winter solstice, but tonight, the sun still set 4:17pm. 4:17pm! On Sundays, everything moves a little more slowly ...
I'VE HAD THESE PHOTOS of Plum Sykes' home in the Cotswold Hills saved since it was featured in Vogue in the fall of 2016, while we were still living in the city, and long before we ourselves moved to a similar life in the English countryside ...
MORE BEAUTIFUL English countryside inspiration for the weekend, from grand castles to cosy thatched roof cottages, from Dorset to Devon, the Lake District to Cambridgeshire, a story in photos of some of the most beautiful places in Britain...
Recently, had told you about our trip from Spain to the south of France, Scotland and the English countryside in late May, early June. It was during this trip that we fell in love (again) with the countryside and thought it might be time to do something completely different than we've done before.

A little slow with the updates, this week, I know–(sometimes there are not enough hours in a day). When I’m feeling a little overwhelmed, I think about donning my wellies à la Kate Moss at Glastonbury, or Marina Hanbury (although I probably wouldn’t wear them with a see-through evening gown) and head to the English countryside, the perfect place for repose . . .
BECAUSE WE SOMETIMES post photos of our life lately, Instagram's algorithm has thrown many such similar images across our path, which is sometimes annoying and sometimes wonderful if it leads to the discovery of accounts such as @irenemylife.
As memories of summer fade and autumn slowly gives way to winter, it feels natural to want to curl up somewhere warm and cosy, preferably beside a fire with a good book. And what better place to retreat than to a storybook cottage complete with thatched roof nestled in the English countryside?
