TO SAY THAT HASN’T BEEN a great week around the world would be an understatement, with the horrific shooting at two mosques in New Zealand by an Australian terrorist last Friday afternoon, the on-going Brexit debacle and other unhappy news events. There were two bright lights in all this darkness, however. The first being Greta Thunberg, a 16 year old Swedish climate activist with Asperger’s, who inspired 1.5 million people around the world to strike for climate change. And Will Connolly, (otherwise known as Egg Boy) a 17 year old from Victoria who smashed an egg on the head of right-wing senator Fraser Anning at the Conservative National Party meeting in Melbourne this past Saturday. (The senator had essentially blamed Muslim immigration for the Christchurch terror attack.) Here’s to following their examples and always remembering to walk in the light.
This week’s links include Broderie Anglaise and Baroque Pearls and real-life fairytales from the mountains of China; a Tree Hotel in Northern Sweden, about Workism and much, much more.
