Audrey Hepburn and Hubert de Givenchy shared a remarkable and enduring partnership that began in 1953. Hepburn, while filming “Sabrina”, visited Givenchy’s studio in Paris to discuss costumes for the film. Initially, Givenchy was expecting Katharine Hepburn, but he was charmed by Audrey’s elegance and spirit.

Their collaboration blossomed into a lifelong friendship, with Hepburn becoming Givenchy’s muse. He designed many of her iconic looks, including the famous little black dress from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. Hepburn once said, “His are the only clothes in which I am myself. He is far more than a couturier, he is a creator of personality”.

Their relationship was not just professional but deeply personal, marked by mutual admiration and respect. Givenchy described Hepburn as an enchantress who inspired love and beauty1. Their bond lasted until Hepburn’s passing in 1993, leaving a lasting legacy in both fashion and film.
