THIS IS the time for fiery mid-September sunsets, which you might have caught a glimpse of in our Instagram Stories, along with a few snippets of the past days and weeks of autumn in London. Last week, we revived our “Talking Points” series after a lengthy break. This latest edition explores the intricate relationship between core values, false ideals, and hyperreality—concepts that subtly influence our perceptions and behaviours. Last night, I also sent out a late-night edition of Sunday Letter (for all subscribers), which you can read here. I finessed the last newsletter instalment, “When a Girl’s Girl Suddenly has Frenemies“, from a back table in the Pret in Paddington (wouldn’t recommend it—it’s a chaotic, somewhat scruffy experience). This instalment is a personal essay about navigating the complexities of modern female friendships, from camaraderie to conflict, and back again—this one is for Paid Subscribers and you can read it here. Thank you to all of you who have been supporting us there—it means everything to us.
This week’s links include the myth of the ‘core friend group’, and three chic things for autumn days; Van Gogh in the yellow house, the science of how we age, and much, much more.
xo,
