@tigmitrading

Have you been watching the Olympics? We saw Nadal lose today, which was disappointing. While we haven’t caught many events, we did watch the opening ceremonies on Friday night, which somehow feels like a million years ago now for some reason. Perhaps the dog days of summer are setting in. Our friends in Spain will soon leave for their annual August holiday, a tradition shared by many Europeans, including France, Italy, and Germany. This practice hasn’t quite caught on here in Britain, where people tend to spread their holidays throughout the year, but many do leave during the late summer months for the countryside and seaside. For visitors, it can be quite surprising to find entire shops and businesses closed for an entire month. When we first started Belgrave, we learned the hard way about this custom. We hadn’t realised that leather tanneries would shut down for August, but quickly adapted to place all our orders before then. In other news, this weekend I discovered my life philosophy, and before that, on Thursday, P wrote an essay (for our Paid Subscribers) about what it is about a place that we love so much. (Find it here.) That’s all for now!

This week’s links include most the charming beach and seaside hotels in the UK; and how to get over Imposter Syndrome; a chic sweater top and granny shoes for cool summer nights, and much, much more.
