ON FRIDAY morning we drove up to Richmond Hill to see if we could catch the last of the turning leaves at the Viewing Point overlooking the Thames and also stopped by the bakery there that everyone loves, next to the wine shop on the corner. We ordered two flat whites to go and a millionaire’s slice (so good). The last time we were there was in the summertime, and we had taken our bikes through Richmond Park and had a brie and baguette picnic on a vintage plaid wool blanket with glasses of cava. On Saturday, P made French Onion Soup from scratch and I made little toasted baguette slices to go top and everything was then covered in gruyère and it was heaven. The restlessness I feel on summer days has given way to intense feelings of hibernation, cosy in cashmere and candlelight.
This week’s links include the best hotels in Paris this year and the story behind Basque burnt cheesecake; sequin mini dresses and bow satin pumps for holiday soirées, and much, much more.
