A LITTLE COUNTRY pub tucked away in a corner of Chelsea is how The Fox & The Pheasant describes itself. When we first arrived in mid-May, we hadn’t realised that it was match day. All the tables and chairs were pushed against the walls and we were given plastic glasses. The sign outside said No away fans. Needless to day, it didn’t show the place in the best light, so we had a quick drink and left. When we came back a few weeks later, it was (thankfully) not match day, everything was set up as it should be, and it really did have all the charm and romance of a country pub, despite being right in the middle of everything. We loved it. We’ve been back many times since, and I think it’s one of my favourite pubs in London so far.

A Little History
The Fox & Pheasant was founded in 1846 as the Bedford Arms. Ten years later it changed to the Prince of Wales, and in 1965 became The Fox & Pheasant, and has remained so ever since. There are three fire places, a dartboard (if you’re into that sort of thing), dog biscuits for visiting pups, as well as a conservatory with a roof that opens for long summer lunches. There is an a la carte menu, as well as a bar snack menu that runs all day, everyday. And on Sundays, roasts run all day as well. We can’t wait to try the Yorkshire Puddings.
