TUCKED AWAY on the Côte d’Azur (the Mediterranean coast of southeastern France) lies Château Saint-Victor-la-Coste,
one of the most idyllic places to while the hours. A vacation complex comprised of three cottages and one suite (in a 16th century castle), all available for rent, the Château is situated in the old village of St Victor la Coste (an equal distance between Avignon in Provence and the market town of Uzes in Languedoc) where you will find a boulangerie and épicerie, and cafe restaurant L’Industrie. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and some of the best vineyards in France, including Chateauneuf des Papes, Lirac and Tavel.
There are a total of ten bedrooms and nine bathrooms among the three cottages which sleep either 2 or 4 people, but the entire Château is available to rent, including the cottages, accommodating up to 18 guests. As Château Saint-Victor-la-Coste is not a hotel but privately owned, breakfast is not offered and there are shared spaces, such as the salon with sofas and a television, a kitchen and indoor dining table for cooler days, as well as an outdoor swimming pool. Sometimes, when only the cottages are available, the hosts, Alison and Costa, will be living quietly in main Château. One last thing: the cottages do not have wifi, although the Château does (in the shared salon) and sometimes there is a signal around the pool, but perhaps this may be your chance to leave your phone in your room and just live in the moment…
