CAME ACROSS this quote by Dr. Seuss yesterday morning: “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.” And it struck a chord because it feels like lately, that we’re always waiting/hoping to move past current situations and times and on to better ones. First the pandemic and now war. March 11, 2022 marked the two-year anniversary of the date the World Health Organization declared that the COVID-19 outbreak was a pandemic. Two years. And it doesn’t look like it is going away anytime soon, with cases here up over 60% from last week. And during this time, there is war. And while it may be tempting to look forward to a time when these chaotic, terrible things are past, it would, if you think about the quote, be wishing away our lives. While these things are occurring, so are our lives. So if you’re not sure how to live through these moments, you can find positive things to do to make things better: such as donating to worthy causes (there are some good ones here), keeping informed by reading good books about how the world works and things that you’ve always wanted to learn more about; taking care of yourself and allowing yourself time for small moments of mental escape from the endless news cycle⏤a film, a podcast, or coming here to get lost for awhile…
