AFTER WHAT meteorologists have been calling the wettest May in 160 years, the rain finally stopped, perfectly in time for the Spring Bank Holiday weekend. We spent as much time outside as we possible could, both of us getting blinded by the sun, which we hadn’t seen in months, both of getting a little sunburned, so unaccustomed was our skin, despite being coated in SPF30. It felt wonderful to just close our eyes and let the golden rays fall on our faces and to feel hope that we may finally be nearing summertime at long last. The lilacs have already begun to fade and the roses are beginning to bloom in some places. We stopped by the new chocolate shop in town for Madagascan chocolate truffles and iced oat milk lattes on the way to a picnic in the park. These moments help make sense of a topsy turvy world of impending third waves and devastating world news and remind us that we still have each other, and that is everything, everything.
This week’s links include include moody postcards from the North Devon Coast and draped belted dresses for summer days; a Japanese master craftsman, a long marriage captured in photographs, and much, much more.
