ON INSTAGRAM, had confessed that sometimes, in the mornings, when I first wake up, I forget and everything feels normal and bright. And then it hits me and I try not to fall into despair for the world, at least until after coffee.
I like to consider myself an optimist, always looking for a silver lining, while P, on the other hand, calls himself a realist. Lately, it’s been harder and harder to find the bright side of things, although there are: so many food donations in so many countries to people in need, residents in lockdown making face masks on their sewing machines at home for healthcare workers, students babysitting children for doctors and nurses, taxi drivers offering free rides for doctors in Rome, all of those terribly moving classical music balcony concerts―and even still, things are, at the moment, frightening and uncertain.
In between eating an insane amount of carbs in all our favourite comfort food dishes, P and I are taking turns shouting to each other, “My chest feels tight!” or “Feel my forehead. Is it hot? It’s hot isn’t it!” One thing that is certain, however, is that we still love spending all our time together, which is something, as the stats show that after the lockdown in China ended, divorce rates dramatically increased.
