WHILE WE MAY not be the biggest fans of Kanye and Kim Kardashian West, we are very much longtime fans of Axel Vervoordt. In fact, we once wrote a piece about how the Belgian designer and the musician met (How Kanye West met Axel Vervoordt, This Is Glamorous, April 26, 2018).
In the February 2020 issue of Architectural Digest, the couple’s Los Angeles home is finally revealed and it is strict exercise in purity and light. The modern minimalistic space took seven years to complete, its white plaster walls off-set here and there with faded wood and neutrals, and the odd extravagant Royère piece.
From the article:
“Although Kanye describes the house as ’90 percent Axel,’ several other prominent designers lent their talents to the proceedings. Minimalist architect Claudio Silvestrin—who worked on Kanye’s pre-Kim Manhattan loft and continues to collaborate with him on ambitious building projects still under wraps—designed the voluminous master bath. Vincent Van Duysen helped furnish the living room as well as the children’s bedrooms. And Wirtz International Landscape Architects, under the direction of Peter Wirtz, oversaw the design of the burgeoning, purposely all-green gardens.”
