Read a great article yesterday about The Trickle Down Effect as it pertains to wicker and rattan (there’s a wonderful image of the Titanic’s Café Parisien in 1912 there as well). It is known that wicker has swept the fashion world this year and we’ve written about it three times already (here, here & here), and while the term ‘trickle down effect’ generally refers to “a model of product adoption in marketing that affects many consumer goods and services [and] … states that fashion flows vertically from the upper classes to the lower classes within society, each social class influenced by a higher social class” (source), in the article, it refers to the general idea that what happens in fashion follows in décor. And so it is with wicker (and cane, too for that matter). Here are our favourite wicker things at the moment, mixed with a little romance, of course.
